Ending the sale of flavored tobacco products, like Cool Mint, Watermelon Ice and Cotton Candy, will prevent another generation of addiction.
Tobacco use is the leading cause of preventable death and disease in Oregon – killing more than 8,000 Oregonians a year and costing us well over $5 billion annually in medical costs and lost productivity.
Ending the sale of flavored tobacco will stop the relentless targeted campaign toward our children, communities of color, and other marginalized individuals.
Flavors Hook Oregon Kids campaign is a broad, diverse coalition that includes more than 50 community-based organizations. Sponsors and supporters include the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, The American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, and the American Lung Association.
Our efforts are focused on uniting, empowering, educating, and engaging youth, kids of color, and other communities targeted by Big Tobacco around critical healthcare and the dangers of hooking our kids on nicotine with flavored tobacco.
